Robin is the Lead Singer and Rhythm Guitarist

Robin Grimmer is the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Lock Down. He also plays harmonica. Robin is the ‘old man’ of the band at 39. Robin met another musician called Clive on a guitar course at the Stables in Milton Keynes way back in 1996, the year England got to the semis of Euro 96. They formed a guitar duo called the Bandits and starting gigging around Leighton Buzzard and quickly established themselves on the live pub scene. In 2000 the Bandits recruited future Lock Down members Andy on bass and Mark on drums and Face to Face was born.
2001 was a prolific year for Face to Face, with gigs both local and further a field. Their final gig was for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee at the George in Little Brickhill. Robin had to step down from the band to concentrate on post-graduate studies for his day job as a vet!
The Bandits continued to do occasional gigs as a duo and then in 2007, Robin has started a successful solo career, playing along to backing tracks and adopting the pseudonym ‘Rick Stone’. Also in 2007, Mark asked Robin to join a new band he was starting with former band mate Andy and a new lead guitarist called Steve. This band became ‘Lock Down’ and they quickly gelled and rehearsed regularly and played their first gig at the Tawny Owl in March 2008 which was an all-round success!
Robin plays an Epiphone Dot semi-acoustic cherry red electric guitar and a Yamaha CPX acoustic. He has a Yamaha EMX 512SC PA system which with 500w per channel is plenty of power! He recently bought a Marshall MG100 DFX to replace his Peavey. It’s the same model as Steve’s and is an awesome amp!
Vocally, Robin is a tenor with quite a big range is well-suited to songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead and can even hit the high notes for Muse songs!
